Safe, Efficient and Connected. These are our objectives for the improved Barracks Road at Emmet Street Intersection.
With two new development projects and ongoing construction within the area, this intersection is becoming a challenge for motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists. Our improvements will enhance the functional capacity of the intersection to support a heavier volume of traffic and provide a safe route for pedestrians walking, biking or taking public transportation.
Project Benefits
The Barracks Road and Emmet Street Intersection Improvements will provide numerous benefits to the community, in addition to improving travel for pedestrians and motorists. These improvements are part of a multi-year plan to improve transportation throughout the community.
New Turn Lanes
New turn lanes at Northbound Emmet Street and Westbound Barracks Road to increase capacity due to new adjacent developments
Bike Facilities
Creation of a designated bike facility along Emmet Street that will connect to future trail networks
Pedestrian Safety
New pedestrian refuge islands across both streets to allow walkers and cyclists to more comfortably cross the street
